His swordsmanship was so natural, so perfect, that he created Sun Breathing—the original and most powerful breathing style—without any formal training.
When Yoriichi encountered Muzan Kibutsuji, he did what no one before or since has accomplished: he nearly killed the immortal demon king in a single encounter. Muzan barely escaped by exploding his body into 1,800 pieces and fleeing. The trauma was so severe that Muzan avoided all Sun Breathing users for centuries afterward.
Yoriichi's blade, which turned red in his hands through sheer will and technique, left scars on Muzan that never healed. Even 400 years later, Muzan's cells still remembered and feared the man who almost destroyed him.

Every breathing style in Demon Slayer—Water, Flame, Wind, Thunder, and all others—derives from Yoriichi's Sun Breathing. He taught his techniques to others, but none could fully master the original. Only Tanjiro Kamado, centuries later, would rediscover the complete Sun Breathing through his family's Hinokami Kagura dance.
